How Much is Too Much?
Are people forgetting that what they share on the Internet has the potential of being shared with EVERYONE?  My daughter has a friend who shared on her FB page that the marriage retreat she and her husband had just attended had saved her marriage.  Come to find out, her husband thought everything was fine!  The Russian spy who is now back home supposedly has a large following on FB and is updating her site on a regular basis.  The article, http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20100722/tc_afp/russiausspymediainternet
has an interesting take on whether or not we even need spies anymore.  Why pay someone to find out something people share for free?  Social engineering is the act of manipulating people into performing actions or divulging confidential information and is being used for everything from devising terrorist attacks to getting free pizzas!  http://www.social-engineer.org/ is an interesting read for those of you who want to know more.
Questions of the day is:  Do people divulge too much info on the social networking sites and how much do you share?

Yes, people do share too much information on the sites. People mainly talk about and discuss how bad they dont want anyone to be all in their business when basically they share their business/daily life agenda in their status. Yes, I agree with the fact that they also share too much information as well. Be careful about what you put out there on sites. Know that everyone can see it and you cant take it back!

Yes, people do share too much information but people is quick to say that someone else is putting their business in the streets when they are putting their business out for everyone to know it.

Of course people divulge too much of themselves on the internet. People have always loved to gossip and now they have a world wide web to do it on. Commenting allows people to leave their opinion on anything anywhere on the web. With so much information out there, e-criminals are running rampant. One of the most popular scams is the "inheritance" ploy where a messenger ,usually portraying his or herself as an attorney, tells you that a distant relative has left you property or money that you must divulge your most sensitive personal information to obtain. I have actually been a victim of this exact crime; it was extremely convincing and they courted me via personal e-mail for sometime. The emails did not go into my spam files and the legal wording made it seem very official. As far as the need for spies goes, I do not believe that espionage will ever die until we can put an end to war. As long as there are resources worth killing for, such as advanced military technology, state "secretes", and monetary endeavors I think it will be hard to eliminate the entity of the "spy" in society.

yes people do share too much information on the internet. Twitter is a great example. Celebrities say that dont want everybody in their business but they tell everything that they are doing and that's how rumors start up.

I think people do share to much information on facebook. And some people take things to far of what the other people are trying to say. So I think we need to be careful of what we put on facebook. So people need to just keep things plain and simply! Don't talk about your relationship!

Of course people share too much information, and i honestly don't care to see that much about other people. You personal life is PERSONAL. If I or anyone else cares to know about your life, a question will be asked.

Yes i think people sometimes give away too much information and sometimes that can lead to a big problem. Facebook is one of those that if u give too much info u might have a fb stalker that wants to find you.

Omg..yes, people share way too much information on the internet. Whether its true or false. Sometimes I have to catch myself because I will put too much information on Twitter. On FB, I will admit, sometimes I leave things open-ended to make people think. (I had to do that becasue I had a similiar experience like your daughter's friend)
On Twitter, I like to be honest about how I feel. I had to catch myself because I realized that you don't have to be a member of the site to look at other people's pages. For instance, I was on Twitter one day and my supervisor noticed on my page where another employee had twitted that she hated her job. Plus I will admit, I look for information on FB because I am inquisitive about other people's lives. But it is funny to me when people get upset about different people being in their business when the last 25 updates were about their relationship....

People share entirely to much information on Facebook. There wasn't a problem in the mariage, but their is one now. You have to be careful what you say including posting your most intimate information. Most people look for everything they can find to make your life miserable. Lesson learned never let the right know what the left hand is doing. keep your personal intimate life private. It's not for the entire world to know.

Yes, I believe people do share too much, but I think that it's real up to the people how much they wanna share. I try to make sure that only my basic info is shared, if I don't personally know you.
